Day Trip – Sovereign Hill
This is a review post for more information see my disclosure page or check the end of this post for specific information.
This post is image heavy, so I will try to keep it light on words… If I can.
On Monday the kids and I were treated to a day at Sovereign Hill, Ballerat. We have visited before, staying the night last year and spending two days at Sovereign Hill plus seeing the sound and light show in the evening. We loved it last year and we loved visiting again these school holidays.
This visit we spent lots of time in the quieter parts of the recreated 1850s gold rush town, as well as taking in a few of the special school holidays Christmas in July activities.
I love the smell of the candle works and the kids love dipping their own rainbow candles.
The Chinese Camp is one of my favourite spots at Sovereign hill, each hut or tent has another story to tell.
I love that my big boy is remembering to use his finger spaces while learning to write with an ink and dip pen.
During these school holidays Sovereign Hill is celebrating Christmas in July with ‘snow’ falling in main street and all kinds of other Christmas activities. I highly recommend the gingerbread decorating!
If you are in Victoria and looking for a school holiday activity we think Sovereign Hill is a great place to spend a day, or two.
Are your kids on holidays right now? Have you got any plans for great day trips?
{disclaimer: We were given a family pass to visit Sovereign Hill, we paid for all other expenses. I was not obligated to blog about our visit and all opinions are my own.}
What a gorgeous day out you had as a family! Loved looking closely at all the pictures. Sovereign Hill is a great place for children (and adults) to learn about the Gold Rush. Thanks for sharing.
There is really so much to see and take in.. the photos just don’t do it justice!
I remember going there as a kid, I bet it is even better now. Would love to take my two girls there…love that they have snow happening in the main street! Looks like your guys had lots of fun judging by those photos!!
You should come down here for a visit and a trip to Sovereign Hill!
Looks fantastic !
That looks like a lot of fun!
You know, I have never ever been! I must have been sick that day at school or something because *everyone* I know has been there at least once. Looking at your delightful photos is making me think that I would love to go and take the kids.. and the snow! oh, what fun :D
