Start Small

Start Small... words of wisdom for when you are feeling overwhelmed

“Just make a start” I told her.

“I know it seems overwhelming right now, but just pick something small that you know you can do, and make a start. Everything seems less enormous once you have begun.”

I could see the tears beginning to form as she bit her lip. I could feel the anxiety and stress trembling through her body. Right now, this one small task seemed almost impossible because she was so overwhelmed, so convinced that it was too much.

“Start small… You can do that.”

The tears fell, but she made a start any way, a small start… and an hour later she was on to the big stuff and almost done.

As I watched her conquer her big job, and her stress, I saw myself in my daughter, as I so often do.

I realised that I need to remember to take my own advice.

When I am drowning in too much, too many, too busy, I need to remember – start small.

When the piles of washing make me want to give up and walk away…

When making yet another dinner makes me want to tear my hair out..

When the list of things I have to do makes me want to cry…

When the thought of getting the house tidy seems overwhelming…

When making it all happen seems impossible…

I need to remember…

Start small… whatever it is… just start small.

So exactly what I needed to hear right now. Also something I want to remember daily… Do I feel a free printable design coming on in your near future?? ;) lol.. That maybe we your readers could benefit from as well ? LOL! I am kidding but, it’s still something I will be writing down at minimum! Thank you again.

I always think about creating printable posts for these little sayings, but I am never confident anyone would actually be interested!
Perhaps I need to put together a little package of them… 6 positive posters?? Feel free to let me know what other quotes or sayings you’d like to see on them!

Thank you so much for this post! I have a room I’m so badly wanting to change into a craft room and every time I open the door, I’m so overwhelmed with all the stuff in it. I have so many books and craft things in stacks everywhere. But I’m going to take your advice today and just start small! Hugs to you and God bless you!
