Ten of the Best Podcasts for Kids

We’ve be fans of audio books for a long time, and in the last year or two we’ve also become huge fans of kids podcasts.

We use them to help our kids relax before sleep, to encourage a quiet bedtime activity that won’t disturb their siblings, on long car trips, or any time they have to wait for long periods and can not be active.

    1. Kids podcast are the best! We listen in our way to school and they look forward to finish the story when I picked them up after school :)

  1. We love Sparkle Stories!! We have been listening to them for several years and the brother-sister duo of the Martin and Sylvia series are like family to us! So glad you highlighted them. I cannot say enough good things about every story that Sparkle Stories puts out.

  2. Thanks a lot, Kate! I haven’t thought about podcasts for kids. I’ll try with my son. I’ve listened to one about depression and I think it is so good that such conditions can be discussed with the kids. I’ll see how listening activity would work for us. I am glad to know that your kids love it.

  3. My kids (5 and 9) both love Tumble! It’s a science podcast for kids with awesome storytelling. I like listening to it, too!

  4. We love Faraway Woods: Fun characters, engaging stories, and activities, too!
My granddaughter is totally hooked. They also have a FaceBook page where you can get information about their newest launches.

  5. hello. My sister Charlotte and I have been listening to many of the podcasts in your list so we decided to create our own! I’m 12 and Charlotte is 8. It’s called “the Calm Kids Podcast” (we called it like that because I would often tell stories to my younger sister to calm her down and help her fall asleep).
We have almost 10 episodes now and we hope you’ll like it too!

  6. I’m super surprised no one has mentioned Wow in the World!! It’s hands down my kids’ (10, 8, 6, 4) most favorite podcast. It’s an NPR podcast hosted by none other than the incredible Guy Raz and another favorite of ours, Mindy Thomas. They are a spectacular duo and super silly and funny. They teach all kinds of stuff about science, technology, the velocity of poop…loads and loads(no pun intended). It’s fabulous and must be on this list:) Thanks!

    1. Wait…I just realized this post was from three years ago. So Wow in the World wasn’t around. So now it is and everyone should check it out:)
