Joining Childhood101′s We Play this week….

A few weeks back the Picklebums and I attended the opening of Eco Toys and Baby store. We went along to do a craft activity for any kids (or adults) who were visiting on the day. Our activity of choice? Making Autumn Crowns.
Inspired by these gorgeous crowns over at Heart Felt Muski and I cut up some strips of card and collected some autumn leaves and had a bit of practice before the big day.
Staple your card into a ring that fits your child’s head first. You’ll need a nice thick paste (we made corn flour and water paste with a bit of pva glue for added stickingness) and it seemed to work better when we put the glue on the leaves rather than on the paper crown.
Muski wore his crown on and off all week.
Hopefully there are still a few autumn leaves left where you live so you can give this a try!

I KNOW there are many frangipanni leaves available for this – because I had to mow through them recently.
Darn for a child too old and a child too young to play such things…
Great idea. The crown looks beautiful. Thanks for this, I will be stealing this idea.
The autumn leaves are fantastic colours and make a great crown … I wish our area had more deciduous trees I might have to go hunting for some so we can make crowns :)
Love the crown!!
Lovely. Alas for the lack of autumn leaves around here!
What a lovely crown, and I love his clearly pleased smile!
Nathan adores picking up the autumn leaves. He brought home a huge one the other day. I’ve been wondering how we could use the leaves after we get them home. This is a great idea! Thanks.
that is adorable! any excuse to use the glue, right? :)
My kids love gathering up leaves when we take our evening walks around the neighborhood. What a great way to show them off!
Love the beautiful Autumn Prince.
It is summertime here in Texas but I will use this idea in October when the leaves start turning here. Love the crown.
What a great idea and it looks absolutely gorgeous, as does the small boy modelling it :)
I’ve been wondering what to do with all the leaves around the place!
