Mixed Media Easter Egg Collage.
Materials
- Printable Easter egg templates.
- Recycled cardboard from boxes
- Scissors
- Paint (we used these fluro paint discs)
- Paintbrush and water container
- Glue stick or white glue.
- Collage materials – paper, pompoms, beads, feathers, craft sticks etc.
You can use any cardboard you have for the base of your eggs. We used part of a box, but the side of a cereal box would work great too.
We used our favourite fluro watercolor paint discs for this Easter egg art project because they are low mess, they dry quickly and the colours are bright and fun, but you can use whatever paint you have on hand.
Collect whatever collage materials you have on hand – scrap paper, cupcake liners and wool are great for very young kids as they are easy to stick, and things like beads and craft sticks are fun for older kids to experiment with. Or check out this list of easy to find collage materials for more ideas.

Instructions
Once you have collected all your materials start by cutting out one of our printable egg templates (whatever size you like) and tracing around it onto the cardboard. Do this a few times then cut out a bunch of cardboard eggs… this art project is so fun you’ll definitely need more than one egg for each child!
Next add some paint to the eggs. Let the children paint the eggs however they like, then set them aside to dry.
Now it’s time to collage!
Encourage your kids to place their chosen collage items on the egg before gluing them down so they can arrange and rearrange them to get the design just right! Then add some glue to stick everything down.
Paper and light collage items can be stuck with a simple glue stick, but bigger, bulkier items like beads and craft sticks will need stronger glue such as PVA/white glue.

Once your mixed media Easter egg collages are dry you can display them on the wall, or string them up as a garland, or add a loop of string to hang them on your Easter tree!
