Let’s play a fun Halloween themed game with these free printable jack-o-lantern matching halves cards.

These set of jack-o-lantern matching halves cards is perfect for working on visual discrimination skills, as well as maths concepts such as ‘same and different’, ‘half and whole’, symmetry and pattern. But they are also lots of fun to play with!

How to Use the Jack-o-lantern Matching Halves Cards

You can use these fun Halloween themed pumpkins as matching halves puzzles. Each card is designed to be printed and then cut down the middle to make a fun matching game.

Simply print jack-o-lantern cards, and laminate the pages if you wish. Before you cut around each individual card, follow the dotted line and cut down the centre of all the cards together in each column. Then cut around each half and you have a set of jack-o-lantern halves and you are ready to start matching!

Each jack-o-lantern has a unique face, so there is only one correct match for each half. It can be quite a challenge for young children to use all their observation skills to find the correct matching half.

Once you’ve found all the matches and completed all the pumpkin faces correctly, now try mixing them up and making some miss-matched, silly, jack-o-lantern faces!

You can also make this set of jack-o-lantern matching cards as a whole cards and use them to play other games such as snap or memory.

To use them for matching card games you’ll need to print each page of cards twice. Then cut out each card without cutting them down the middle (the dotted cutting guide is not printed on the actual card). Now you’ll have a set of 36 jack-o-lantern cards, two of each design, ready to play with.
