Three Jellyfish Song
Now that you know a little bit about jellyfish, lets learn a fun jellyfish song.
The jellyfish song is one of our favourite counting songs because it has a funny story with great actions and it’s lots of fun to sing and act out. It’s also really easy to sing!
This is a great song for preschoolers to work on language and counting skills, and it’s perfect for singing at home or in your classroom.
Three Jellyfish Song
Three jellyfish,
Three jellyfish,
Three jellyfish sitting on a rock.
(hold up three fingers/puppets and sit them on your closed fist for a rock)
One jumped off!
Splash!
(jump one finger/puppet off the rock into imaginary water)
Two jellyfish…
One jellyfish…
(keep singing and doing the actions until you have no fingers/puppets left on the rock)
No jellyfish,
No jellyfish,
No jellyfish sitting on a rock.
(sing sadly with no fingers/puppets sitting on your ‘rock’)
One climbed up!
Hooray!
(climb a finger/puppet back up to sit in the ‘rock’)
One jellyfish,
One jellyfish,
One jellyfish sitting on a rock.
(hold up one finger/puppet to sit on your ‘rock’)
One climbed up!
Hooray!
(climb another finger/puppet back up to sit in the ‘rock’)
Two jellyfish…
Three jellyfish…
(keep singing and doing the actions until you all three fingers/puppets are sitting on the ‘rock’ again)
Three Jellyfish Song Video.
If you don’t know the Three Jellyfish song, we made a quick video for you.
It involves a fair bit of toddler induced camera shake, as well as my less than perfect singing, but I am being brave and standing behind my belief that little kids don’t care if you can sing or not, they just care that you DO sing. So if I can share my singing voice with the whole internet, you can definitely share yours with your kids!
Free Printable Jellyfish Puppets.
You can use these cute printable jellyfish puppets for singing, storytelling or even for imaginative play!
Simply download the pdf, print and cut around the outline of each jellyfish. Then cut between each tentacle and roll the tentacles around a pencil to give them some curl. Attach them to a suitable stick (we used bamboo skewers but you could use chop sticks or even sticks from the garden) and you are ready to play.
We covered our jellyfish in contact paper on one side before cutting them out so they are a bit more robust for toddler hands, but covering both sides means the tentacles don’t curl as well, so best stick to one.
This printable is an A4 sized pdf file, you will need a pdf reader such as adobe acrobat to open it. It will fit to print on US ‘letter sized’ paper, just be sure to select ‘fit’ or ‘shrink to fit’ from your printer options to allow for printer margins.

Jellyfish Small World Play
Another fun way to use these jellyfish puppets is for imaginative play. It’s perfect for an ocean or underwater learning theme, or just for fun!
We set up our jelly fish with some rocks and shells on a piece of blue foam for the water. We had lots of fun making the jelly fish do crazy things and make crazy sounds as they fell into the water and then climbed back up on their rock.

I did not know the jellyfish song, but it does sound like something our Kinder teacher sings, so I am going to tell her to pop on over and check out your jellyfish in about an hour’s time :)
And I enjoyed your singing, but I will be keeping my own singing for my Miss 5 only. I’m pretty sure. Unless there is alcohol involved. :D
