Twelve Delicious Bars and Slices

Posted on October 12, 2015 5 Comments

Here in Australia, we call them slices, but I’ve discovered that most Americans have no idea what I am talking about when I ask for their best ‘slice recipe’.

It seems Americans call them bars, but whatever you call them, they are delicious and I need to make a whole bunch of them for a school event this week, so here are twelve of our favourite slice and/or bar recipes!

12 Delicious bar and slice recipes

Twelve Delicious Bars and Slices

Mars Bar Slice from Best Recipes – super easy no-bake recipe.

Apple and Rhubarb Slice – an easy to make family favourite of ours.

Chocolate Coconut Slice from The Organised Housewife – easy and delicious.

Lemon Meringue Slice – a little more tricky my my family LOVE this slice.

Anzac Slice from Childhood101 – an Aussie favourite turned into a slice.

Cookies and Cream Meltaways from Lemon Tree Dwelling – no-bake, over the top goodness.

Strawberry Lemonade Bars from Averie Cooks – these taste as good as they look!

Malteser Slice from Bake Play Smile – an easy, no-bake slice.

Turkish Delight Brownies – a quick and easy brownie recipe that you can customise with your favourite chocolate bar.

Chocolate Caramel Slice from Donna Hay – mine never set quite right, but they still taste great.

Raspberry Streusel Bars from Sally’s Baking Addiction – these are really good.

Crazy Gooey Cookie Bars – these don’t travel so well but they are really good!

What do you call them? Bars? Slices? or something else entirely?

Whatever you call them, if you’ve got a favourite recipe share it (or a link to it) in the comments below!

In the Canadian prairies, we cut them into small squares and call them ” Dainties”. Along with small tarts and finger sandwiches we serve them at bridal and baby showers. Our local favorites are Nanaimo squares. peanut butter confetti squares and Butter tarts.

I live in an international community and most people were confused when I said I was making a slice. The brits and some americans call them “tray bakes” and others call them “bars”. I don’t care what they call them, as long as they share, especially “7 layer bars”.
