Fun Food! Free Printable Play Dough Mats (They make great place mats too!)

It’s funny how things happen. It started when we resurfaced our old dining table and I decided we needed place mats to protect the table a little, and that lead to me making some simple laminated place mats to help my big kids remember how to set the table.

But as soon as Noah saw the place mats his eyes twinkled and he said “Can I make a play dough dinner for that plate?”

And that is how my place mats turned into play dough mats!

And of course I couldn’t stop at just one play dough mat, so I made a whole set of fun food play dough mats!

Here’s a fun new playdough recipe to try!

All of the our free printable play dough sets are A4 sized pdf files, so you will need a pdf reader such as Adobe Acrobat to open them. If you are printing on US ‘letter sized’ paper be sure to select ‘fit’ or ‘shrink to fit’ from your printer options.

Please remember that the printables at picklebums.com are for personal use only, you may not sell, share, or link directly to these files.

I use a regular desktop inkjet printer to print our mats. I print onto regular printer paper and then laminate each one. If you want to save on laminating pockets, laminate two sheets together, back to back. You could also slip them in a page protector, or use write and wipe pocket.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing your printables with the world.
I am from Belgium and will use this in my school.
The children will LOVE it !!!

  2. These are fabulous! Is there any chance you could make the place mats in different colours, or a way I could change the colour myself? I would like to have different colours to match the different coloured cutlery to extend matching skills :-)

  3. The mats are a lovely idea, but where do you get the self adhesive paper or a laminator for an 8.5×11 piece of paper?? I’m sorry to sound so ignorant, but please do tell!! I’m dying to make these mats for my kids!!

    1. I assume you are not in Australia as our standard paper size is A4 so laminating sheets come in A4 size and are easy to find. But you could also use self adhesive paper… here it comes in a big roll so you can just cut off whatever size you need.
You can also print these onto US ‘letter’ sized paper if that is helpful. Just choose ‘fit’ or ‘shrink to fit’ from your printer options, that may shrink them a tiny bit but not enough to be a problem. That should work for whatever your standard size of paper is.
