Have fun creating and learning about food with these free printable, fun food play dough mats.
It’s funny how things happen. It started when we resurfaced our old dining table and I decided we needed place mats to protect the table a little, and that lead to me making some simple laminated place mats to help my big kids remember how to set the table.
But as soon as Noah saw the place mats his eyes twinkled and he said “Can I make a play dough dinner for that plate?”
And that is how my place mats turned into play dough mats!
And of course I couldn’t stop at just one play dough mat, so I made a whole set of fun food play dough mats!
Here’s a fun new playdough recipe to try!
Fun Food Play Dough Mats
There are three play dough mats in this fun food set. Each has a simple image and a text prompt designed to encourage creativity and imagination. There are no right or wrong way to create with these play dough mats, so the kids can make whatever kind of food they link. Perhaps they might serve up a plate full of worms!
There is a cake stand so you can make and decorate a fabulous play dough cake.
You could use paper confetti or beads as sprinkles, and tooth picks or even real birthday candles.
There is a a sundae dish for making a yummy ice cream sundae!
You could make playdough in ice cream themed colours, and even add vanilla, chocolate or strawberry scent to your dough.
And there is also the dinner mat, which doubles as a great place mat if you happen need one!
You can download the ‘What’s for dinner?’ play dough mat here.
These also work great with dry erase markers or crayons.
All of the our free printable play dough sets are A4 sized pdf files, so you will need a pdf reader such as Adobe Acrobat to open them. If you are printing on US ‘letter sized’ paper be sure to select ‘fit’ or ‘shrink to fit’ from your printer options.
Please remember that the printables at picklebums.com are for personal use only, you may not sell, share, or link directly to these files.

What are the containers you used for manipulatives to decorate playdough?

Do you mean the little tray that has the bits and pieces in it??
That is actually recycled packaging from some frozen food! I kept it because I liked the shape and thought it would be useful!
