I am trying to de-clutter.
I am trying not to save piles of stuff ‘just in case’.
So when I suddenly found myself with a whole bunch of clear plastic packaging in weird and wonderful shapes, I almost threw it out, but I decided to be creative with it first and do some see-through drawing.
I think it’s really important to encourage our kids to be creative, but doing art with your kids doesn’t have to be difficult!
This see-through drawing activity was one of those easy, quick to set up, low mess, activities that was also really creative, offered lots of learning opportunities, and was just plain fun!
All I did was dump the plastic packaging on the table with a pile of permanent markers, and let the kids do the rest.
Packaging from new headphones turned into some crazy faces, shoe inserts became footballs, and food packaging became a mosaic of different patterns.
The kids found it really interesting, and sometimes challenging, to drawing on a surface that was not flat. There were interesting textures, and curves which made the your pen strokes do interesting things. The shapes of plastic really influenced what they drew also.
All in all this was such an easy activity, which offered so many interesting ways to be creative.
Next time you find yourself with a pile of clear plastic, try this easy art activity and give see-through drawing a go!
